Where Do Head Lice Hide?
Head lice eggs (nits) can be found firmly attached to the hair shaft. Adult head lice are most commonly found on the scalp. Look behind the ears and near the neckline at the back of the neck. Head lice hold on to hair with hook-like claws found at the end of each of their six legs. Note that head lice are rarely found in other body hair, eyelashes, or eyebrows.
Who doesn't remember those wonderful days at school when we all had to line up and have the teacher check our hair for head lice? We always wondered who was going to get sent home. Now, you're hoping it's not your child who is infected by
head lice.
If your child should end up with lice though, you might be even more concerned about the very toxic shampoos and medicines commonly used to get rid of lice. Most of these are the equivalent of bug sprays. Do you want these poisons on or in your child? Probably not. Keep reading to find a home remedy for
head lice that works for you.
